Taxonomy

Family: Araceae

Habitat

Bogs and acid swamps.

Associates

Pitcher plant, poison sumac, marsh cinquefoil, dwarf birch, winterberry holly.

Distribution

Circumboreal; in North America south to MD, IL, IA, WI, MN, and ND.

 

Morphology

Monocot. Spreads by a creeping, elongate rhizome.

Notes

Flowers mid June to early October

Wetland indicator: Obligate

Listed as endangered in IL, IN, and MD.
