Taxonomy

Family: Orchidaceae

Habitat

Peat bog, moist calcareous sites, marly fen, moist prairie, shaded hillside seep.

Associates

In bogs with Larix laricina, Menyanthes trifoliata minor, Rhus vernix, Rubus pubescens.

Distribution

 

Morphology

A pair of relatively large basal leaves. Flowers greenish to purplish-brown, 10 or more; spike not twisted; lip not spurred; one fertile anther.

Notes

Flowers early June to early July.

Wetland indicator: Facultative wetland+

A rather inconspicuous green orchid.
