Taxonomy

Family: Caprifoliaceae

Habitat

Calcareous woods, often on sloping or rocky ground.

Associates

 

Distribution

Primarily a Midwestern species but also occurs in NY and CT and parts of eastern Canada.

Morphology

Woody, glabrous vine. Lower leaves ovate, sessile or nearly so; upper leaves perfoliate, glaucous above, wider than long, rounded at tip. Flowers yellow; style hairy. Fruits red in clusters. 

Notes

Flowers May and June.

Wetland indicator: Upland

Also called L. reticulata Raf. and L. sullivanti A. Gray.  Another common name is Grape Honeysuckle.
