Morphology
Rhizomatous perennial. Leaves opposite, ovate to lanceolate, sessile, rounded at the base; petioles ciliate. Flowers yellow, solitary in the upper leaf axils, pedunculate, 5-parted.
Notes
Flowers June to August.

There are some purple-leaved cultivars of this plant.
