Taxonomy

Family: Primulaceae

Habitat

Moist to wet ground. In sun or shade.

Associates

 

Distribution

Most of the U.S. and southern Canada.

Morphology

Rhizomatous perennial. Leaves opposite, ovate to lanceolate, sessile, rounded at the base; petioles ciliate. Flowers yellow, solitary in the upper leaf axils, pedunculate, 5-parted.

Notes

Flowers June to August.

Wetland indicator: Facultative Wetland

There are some purple-leaved cultivars of this plant.
