Newfoundland to AK, south to NY, northern IN, MN, and NM.
Morphology
Rhizomatous perennial; leaves firm, subrotund, mostly 3-6 cm; scapes 15-30 cm, usually with 1-3 scale-like leaves; sepals triangular, 2-3 mm, acute, entire, widest just above the base and thus slightly overlapping; petals 5-7 mm, pink to pale purple; anthers cuspidate at the base, abruptly narrowed above into very short tubes; style declined.

Similar to P. americana which has white flowers and sepals oblong or ovate-oblong and not overlapping at the base.
